We we have provided information & links to our special charity:
Friends of Gabby Joseph
Raising awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding youth suicide by sharing links to relevant pages/websites. Also, a place to find information about events to be held in memory of our girl, Gabby ♥
Gabrielle (Gabby) Joseph was an intelligent, beautiful, popular girl from Briton Ferry, South Wales. She was studying AS Levels at Gower College Gorseinon but she dreamed of travelling to Australia and was saving for her trip by working part-time at Outfit, Swansea and Hollister, Cardiff. In her free-time, she did some modelling and was building up a good portfolio of work.
On Monday April 25th, …2011, Gabrielle left a message for her friends on facebook, before taking her own life at Briton Ferry railway station. She was just 16 years old. Gabrielle never seemed unhappy or depressed and appeared to have no problems in her life so her suicide came as a huge shock to all her family and friends and the community of Briton Ferry.
Gabrielle’s funeral was held at Margam Crematorium on Thursday 5th May 2011. It was attended by well over 500 people and a request was made for donations to be made to The Samaritans. A huge amount of money was donated and since then, Gabrielle’s friends have also held memorial events, raising even more money.
Gabrielle’s family felt they would like to use this money to support Gabrielle’s friends and other young people whose lives have been affected by suicide. They formed the group, ‘Friends of Gabby Joseph’ which aims to do just that by providing access to one-to-one/group support and raising awareness of the issues surrounding suicide in young people.
If you’re worried about something or you feel upset or confused, please talk to someone you trust or contact one of the agencies shown below/on our wall. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem; there are people who can help, please don’t struggle on alone.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. ♥
